Netty pot failure

I get mild seasonal allergies every time the temps make their twice yearly change.  Other than my mild congestion, the 2 mile run I went on last night was really good.  My legs feel fantastic.  Must better than after my two previous marathons.

At night my sinuses clog up worse than Crystal Gayle's shower drain.
Get the coat hanger, some baking soda, and some vinegar.
Baking soda chased with vinegar can unclog drains.  You didn't know that?

So I tried the Netty Pot (I don't know how to spell it), or the off brand version we got from Walgreens, for the first time last night.  My husband kept yelling at me to breath through my nose before proclaiming that I "suck at Netty Pot."  He cheered me on a couple of times with an "Oh, yeah.  There comes some good stuff, right there." TWSS.  I thought it burned like hell.  That could be because my other solution to sinus drainage is to simply shove pieces of toilet paper into my nostrils and leave it.  Trader Joe's TP isn't very soft and may have rubbed my nostrils raw prior to me pouring salt water in them.
It's just as cute when I do it.
If you missed it yesterday, go to my give away post.  So far my top pics are "Erin runs braless", (Explain Erin, explain!) Jenny Taylia, Can D. Yass, and Imus B. Slow.  John, you raised the bar with your brilliant and poetic "Tranny blow job" comment a few weeks back.  Enis Penvy is OK.  But just OK.  You can do better!  Adam hasn't responded yet, but I would imagine he would like a shirt that says "Minimalist Hippie Hater" ;)

  3. Ha! That sounds like how I envisioned a neti pot experience. I wanted to try it when I got a cold a week before my half marathon in september but I got intimidated then wondered if I could possibly make things worse by doing it wrong. I never tried. That drain solution is fabulous...but whatever comes out has to be disgusting. Also, I am not familiar w/crystal gayle, but her drain has to be in bad shape.

  4. I LOVE The neti pot. Even Audrie can do it! What the hell is wrong with you?

  5. Minimalist hippie hater? What's that? Did you just say, "Adam, I need some unsolicited advice"?

The Neti Pot only addresses the symptoms of the allergies - the stuffy nose. It works great to make you feel better for a while, but you can't just get up in the middle of the night every time your nose stops up again. No matter what you do to your nose, your body will still produce a histamine reaction to fall pollen. I suggest the generic for Alavert - 10mg loratadine. It doesn't dry you out like Claritin sometimes can, it won't make you sleepy, and antihistamines don't lose their effect over time like pain killers.

    Hippy...

  6. I had to put Kelley on the case as well. She came up with Oliver Clothesoff, and Drew P. Weiner. I like those.

  7. You have risen to the occasion John. I applaud these names.

Adam, your advice wouldn't be as fun if it were solicited.
